Al-Ridha is an Arabic word for “right”, and al-Ridha al-Munawwarah is the right to set one’s faith or belief as the standard of one’s behavior or actions. The word is used throughout the Qur’an and the Hadiths to refer to God’s commands and prohibitions.

Al-Ridha al-Munawwarah or the Right of Setification is a principle in Islam that seeks to prevent people from being forced into Islam by another’s persuasion or propaganda.

The right of setification is a fundamental human right and is protected by law in most Muslim countries. The purpose of the law is to prevent others from influencing the faith of a person by attempting to convert them to a different religion or to an unconventional belief system.

The law of Allah is clear in this regard: “O people of the Book, do not exceed in your religion by a night.”[Qur’an 24:26]

This principle has been incorporated into the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights.

The word al-Ridha is derived from the same root as the word Islam, which means submission. The right of setification seeks to prevent others from forcing you to submit to their will or converting you to their belief system.
